GWP-517VE is the first of our outdoor clients for 5 GHz ISM bands. Unit is equipped with active Power-over-Ethernet system with integrated 5-port switch, as well as integrated 19dB flat panel antenna, which offers superior sensitivity for a far-distance connections. Even the hardware design has been fully redesigned from 2.4 GHz units. New RTL-8650 chip with 8MB Flash and 32MB RAM memory enables implementation of many special features for data transmition control. One of the most-wanted functions is for example web redirection for the customer if connection to the access point fails. Customer is redirected to the web page, which can be modified by internet service providers and uploaded to the unit. This page contains service information, like support phone number, as well  as technical information about the problem, which should be reported to the support (traceroute to the gateway or other special IP address, DNS, SMTP and other network server tests etc.). This function saves a lot of time of your support and lets you repair much more issues over the phone without the need of service mission on-site.       Central network supervision and diagnostics is simplified by integrated SNMP service. Rate control and QOS has been improved by adding traffic control feature based on source/destination IP, TCP/UDP port number etc. Integrated firewall cooperates with DHCP server using static DHCP request table. Unit supports all cyphering mechanisms like WEP/WPA/TKIP or Radius-based authentification. In a bridge mode, unit can be used as a wireless Point-to-Point connection between 2 networks, which is fully transparent up to MAC level and offers great real data-throughput up to 28Mbit/sec. Due to integrated high-gain antennas, distance up to 12 miles* can be reached with 2 units.
