GWP-617
is not just a single unit. It is a serie of 4 of them for a start.
Designed on absolutelly new board, based on latest radio modules from
Atheros and equipped with amplifiers up to 600 mW output directly from
the board. This serie has been specially designed to cover all needs on
5 GHz connections - from client station for wireless internet service
providers up to long-range high-capacity Point to Point bridges. 3
versions are equipped with 19 dB antenna, the highest one offering 22
dB. Antennas for this unit has been fully redisigned to cover all 5 GHz
ISM bands with a central frequency and best sensitivity on 5.500 MHz
frequency.
Firmware for this unit is
writen totally from the scratch again, so our programmers have a full
control over a new features and firmware upgrades. But even in the
version 1.0 you can expect such things like channel spam change, or
automatic power output control. Of course - all the functions as rate
control, 3 kinds of watchdog and othe setting we used before will
be kept as well.
As a new function we will
offer you integrated solution for signal strengh measurement and
antenna alligment - small let on the unit will show you how good signal
you have by a speed of blinking, which will help you with antenna
aligment.
Another great thing which
cames from Atheros chipset usage is great sensibility of the radio unit
itself. In the best solution sensitivity of a radio part is great -94
dB. If you add 22 dB antenna included on the highest level of 617xx -
GWP-617ELR - you will get sensitivity -116 dB on 5 GHz bands. It means
that this unit cn theoretically work on distances over 50 km (31miles).
Even the case of the unit has
been fully redisigned. New cable output now is the same for
both polarization - and still fully waterproof and safe. Back side of
the unit has been modified for new type of holders, which offers more
exact antenna aligment.
First 2 types - GWP-617VE and
GWP-617ST - will be mass production in 2. quarter 2008. Strongest 2
types - GWP-617LR and ELR will be offered few months later. Check our
